I like to explore where the land and ocean meet. The land is otherworldly for those from the sea and vice versa. I find it a particularly wonderful place when there are cliffs and only a stretch of beach that disappears with the incoming tide.
The other day while exploring one, I met a man who told me he raises edible botanicals. Every other morning, he gathers ten small stones in his hand and runs up and down the cliff path. With each circuit, he discards one stone. When there are none left, he is done with his workout. By using the stones, he does not need to count, and his meditative state requires no interruption.
