A Howling Good Time (sans howls)

A few years ago, I went on a kayaking trip to Glacier Bay, Alaska, where I was able to see bears, whales, and glaciers, but what I most looked forward to was hearing wolves howling in the wild.

Days and nights passed without a single howl.

Then, one morning on the ocean off of Chichagof Island, I encountered something more wondrous. As the fog lifted, we came upon a pack of wolves feeding on salmon at a river mouth. They were so engaged in their feast that our presence didn't disturb them.
